#ARTONATRUCK

Pizza, Fine Art, Fashion – Things you don’t expect to come from a truck. This Friday the 16th, Streetza Pizza will be presenting the work of two local artists – all over our truck.

Stunami

D. Stuart – Me Want Cookie – Mixed Media 11″x 16″ $200

Stunami is an illustration graduate of MIAD, whose work has comic/children’s book roots, often relying on pen and ink outlines, and bright, vibrant color.  He likes to explore the world through his art from a child’s perspective where anything is possible.

He has been busiest lately as the man behind the woman behind The M.U.T.E.S. working on their website (www.themutes.com,) graphic design and appearing as “card monkey.”

He is in the process of setting up his new website (www.stunamidraws.com) and is honored to be featured in this most unconventional of art shows thanks to the great purveyors of Streetza Pizza.

You also have the chance to become part of the art, as photographers capture people interacting with the art, the fashion, the truck and the pizza.

And, Streetza Pizza will be featuring the Pointillism Pizza. Thousands of little veggies and meats finely diced and placed on top of our tomato sauce covered Streetza crust. Held together by mozzarella cheese.

pointilismpizza

We’ll be parked right in front of Lela Boutique. (321 North Broadway) And Lela will be featuring the latest in woman’s fashion from Shanel Regier, Voom , Vika Brown, Trina Turk and Mel en Stel.

January 27th – Streetza Pizza helps out the employees of Pizza Man

I was really saddened when I turned on the news and saw that one of my favorite pizza restaurants was on fire. Pizza Man was a Milwaukee icon for years. I have many fond memories of Pizza Man. First dates, first time having escargot, many of bottles of wine and wild boar ravioli dinners. As a restaurant(ish) owner, I would think/hope that the owners had enough insurance to rebuild. I really feel for the employees who are now out of work and the people who lived above the restaurant. They are the ones who could really be struggling for a least a while. There is a benefit for all the apartment tenants. It will be held Thursday, Jan. 28 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Twisted Fork restaurant. Admission is $5 at the door and includes free beer (donated by Twisted Fork), an auction and music. Food will be available for purchase. All proceeds from the event benefit those rendered homeless by the fire that also destroyed Pizza Man, Cush and Grecian Delight. You can also make a donation at any Associated Bank branch. We thought we’d try to help out not only by attending this event, but also auctioning off some foodie related things via twitter.

Throughout the day on the 27th, we’ll be auctioning off food tools, gift certificates, and even signed books from Anthony Bourdain and Rocco DiSpirito. There will be 6 auctions throughout the day. Bidding can be done through twitter only. Simply write a tweet that states- “@streetzapizza – #pizzamanauction – then list the item and what you are willing to pay for it. You’ll have to watch the #hashtag #pizzamanauction to keep track. All bidding ends at 7 p.m. On the 28th, we’ll go to the event with a check for all of the funds raised by our auction.

Here are the items:

1. A Cook’s Tour by Anthony Bourdain – Signed by Anthony – Value $250.00 (est.)

2. Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain – Donated by Michael Chang – Signed by Anthony – Value $250.00 (est.)

3. Flavor by Rocco DiSpirito – Signed by Rocco – Value $250.00 (est.)

4. $50.00 Gift Certificate to Streetza – Value $50.00

5. 2 Bottles of wine – Value $50.00

6. Streetza Sweatshirt – Ordered just for you, let us know your size – Signed (if you want) –  Value $50.00

January 22nd – Anthony Bourdain is in town.

One of the most fun and vocal people in food today is Anthony Bourdain. And, that also makes him one of our heros. Someday we hope he comes to visit us in the Streetza truck, along with a big film crew from The Travel Channel.

We will be closed on the 22nd to watch Tony live along with some of our twitter and facebook friends.

“Oh my God, that was a religious experience, … In the words of Homer Simpson, the pig is a magical animal.” –  Anthony Bourdain quote

January 23rd – Mac&Cheese&Pig Pizza

Just in-case Tony is still in Milwaukee on the 23rd, we are making a pizza in honor of him. Mac and Cheese is one of his favorite comfort foods and everyone knows how much he likes anything having to do with pork.

This NYC-style pizza is covered in home-made Macaroni & Cheese and loaded with 3 different types of pork. Shredded Pork Butt, Smoked Nueske’s Bacon and Pork Tenderloin – Topped with a mix of cheeses from Wisconsin and served with a side of hot-sauce.

Available 9p-3a. We’ll be parked at 1227 North Water Street.

Streetza Healthy Menu

We want to help you keep your New Year’s resolution,(and keep our own) which probably includes eating healthier and losing weight. We spent most of 2009 developing innovative pizza toppings, many of which were not the healthiest dining options. (The brew-crew sausage race with 5 types of sausage on one pizza, The hog heaven with 9 types of pork, the Element 13 with 11 types of cheese and 2 types of pepperoni.) In order to fit into your resolution, we are offering the #fitmke menu. All of the taste of Streetza with about 1/2 of the calories and fat. Look for a new #fitmke slice each week!! With the unpredictable Milwaukee weather, our hours of operation will be more limited. We don’t want to have the 11,000 lb. truck end up in a ditch or snow bank. The best way to find out where we are is to follow us on twitter,

or simply call us @ 414-215-0015 to find out if we’re open.

We’ll randomly pick a winner and give them two seats and a what we feel would be Tony’s favorite Streetza – Hog Heaven. 9 types of pork on one delicious pizza.  “Oh my God, that was a religious experience, … In the words of Homer Simpson, the pig is a magical animal.” –  Anthony Bourdain quote

About Rachel: Rachel Kenison Photography saved my life. Photography is my religion. I take pictures to feel something other than what I’m feeling. I take pictures to capture feeling. I take pictures because I’m bored. I take pictures because even if I don’t have a camera I am always taking pictures in my head–since birth practically. I take pictures of just about anything. I love people and decay the most though.

About Shana: Shana R. Goetsch received her BFA in painting from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design in May of 2008. She also holds a printmaking minor. A southeastern Wisconsin native, Shana has been involved in the arts since childhood, starting with dance as her first visual medium. She became more interested in painting in 1989, after the death of her mother. Using her work as a vehicle for change and empowerment in herself and others, Goetsch often uses words and specific phrases to interject personal history, experience and meaning into her pieces. Many hand gathered and found objects are used as materials in her work, as well. Goetsch still sees painting as an important part of her process, “I’m a painter, and anything else I can possibly get away with.”

About Streetza: Streetza is all about loving pizza. No matter where you are or the time of day. Streetza brings some of the best pizza you’ve ever had right to you. On the street. We hand make each pizza in our commercial kitchen and bake it in our amazing mobile pizza oven right in-front of you. Co-owner Scott Baitinger has been an part-time instructor at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design since 1999. (MIAD) is an accredited college providing Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in the fields of Communication Design, Drawing, Illustration & Industrial Design.

About Lela: In October 2003, co-owners Stephanie Sherman and Carrie Arrouet launched a fashion movement in the Historic Third Ward of Milwaukee. Their 1,200 square foot boutique brilliantly combines carefully edited vintage with new designer collections. Lela’s cream city brick walls also house exclusive collections from Milwaukee designer Shanel Regier. This eclectic warehouse district that was once the center of the Italian produce trade is now home to cutting edge fashion.

After only a month and a half on the streets, we realized that some really funny stuff happens around our truck. And we think it will become even funnier if people see a camera filming them. Look for the camera to be in the truck this week and for our first episode to be on youtube in about two-three weeks. The show will also include behind the scenes making of our gourmet pizzas, quick cuts of scenes from inside the places that we park outside of and what we see from the window of our pizza truck. It will be The Food Network meets The Travel Channel meets Youtube, with a little Dave Attell like foolishness thrown in.

We love Milwaukee in Spring!! RiverSplash is this weekend.

Based on feedback from our twitter followers, Water Street customers and Facebook friends. We created a couple of specials for the weekend.

There are lots of great things to eat at RiverSplash, and our normal slice is just too big for most people. 1/6 of an almost 18″ pizza is the same as three slices from a normal sized one. It made sense to cut the pizza into a little smaller slices and cut the prices. Now, an 1/8 of a pizza is also a big slice. But, you may just have a little room left over to try some of the other food at RiverSplash. See you this weekend. :)

Follow us on twitter to learn what the slice will be and for our final location.
